Meridith Merwald-Gofta
Sterling, Fine Silver, Gold, Goldfilled, and Copper jewelry.
Omaha Nebraska

After years of successful jewelry design and repairing of vintage pieces, I fell in love with the art of free form wire design (1990) and silversmithing (2000). I have combined these metal techniques with vintage beads and cabochons, fused glass and natural stones. Many of my designs are one of a kind.

I work in Sterling Silver, Fine Silver, Rolled Gold, Gold and Copper. Several of the techniques I use are self-taught or have been passed down from my family. I have been experimenting with different silversmithing techniques such as broom-casting, cuttle bone casting, lost wax casting, forging and metal finishes and combining them with wire work. I enjoy seeing how far I can go with the different metals available. I fabricate all of my designs and a majority of my findings. I recent have been learning the art of lapidary. I am cutting my own stones and using them in my new designs.

I love the clean lines of the Art Deco period and have modified some of the designs from that period. I have become fascinated with the natural stones and their coloring. When using a natural stone I choose different metals and fabrications that will enhance it which then becomes the focal point of the piece. Many of my designs will have some type of sparkle whether it is a stone, fused piece or a metal technique.

I do welcome custom orders and enjoy working with clients and their ideas.
